Reading Notes 9/20

I have never heard of Linux and I do not think I know any one that uses it. I don't really see why I would when I am perfectly comfortable with Windows and MacOS and haven't had any problems with it. It is interesting to know that there's a free system out there that people can change and debug by themselves, but that is something beyond my capabilities. I never knew so much went into each OS or that there were so many choices. I'm one of those people that just turns the computer on and pokes around until I find what I need, which has been pretty easy when just using newer and newer versions of the same OS.

(more thoughts to come)

  1. Hi Kaitlyn,

I believe your observations about Linux mirror how I perceive the operating system. Since it is more difficult for the average consumer to use I think it will an after thought for the non tech environment. I do believe individuals who use operating systems on a more advanced level should have Linux.

  2. Kaitlyn. I have no knowledge of operating systems and I, like yourself, am the girl that turns the computer and will basically freak out if I see something different from my Windows platform. But I have a couple of friends that run Linux in their computers and their experience is that this system is more reliable and stable, just like the reading mentions. As for using it myself all my experience is that I was asked to log in into a computer with a Linux system and the platform seemed very similar to Windows but with a different aesthetic.
